What does the Joggy AI coach know about me?
The coach knows your training plan, your target paces and your whole week, so its answers fit where you are rather than coming from a generic help page. Ask whether to run on sore legs and it answers for your week, not for runners in general.
What can I ask the AI coach?
You can ask the coach anything that is stopping you from running: whether to run today after a bad night's sleep, what easy pace means for you, what to do after missing three days, or how to handle race morning nerves. It can also look things up, such as race conditions, altitude and local spots, and fold what it finds into real coaching.
What does a conversation with the coach look like?
Here is an example from the joggy homepage, about a first race at altitude:
Runner: I'm racing in Denver this weekend, first time at altitude. What should I eat the night before?
joggy: Altitude changes the math a little. And Denver's dry air dehydrates you faster than you'd expect, so hydrate all day today, not just tonight. For dinner, go carb-forward and gentle: pasta or rice, moderate protein, easy on fiber and heavy fats.
How does the coach answer common beginner questions?
Below are ten questions beginners ask most, with answers written in the coach's voice. They're examples, not live replies: in the app, the coach also takes your plan and your recent runs into account. Tap a question to see the answer.
Should I run if my legs are sore?
joggy If it's the dull, all-over soreness you get a day or two after a run, an easy short run or a brisk walk is usually fine, and it often helps. If it's sharp, on one side, or gets worse as you go, that's not soreness. Stop, rest it, and get it checked if it hangs around. 🐢
How slow is "easy pace", really?
joggy Slow enough that you could talk in full sentences. For a lot of beginners that's barely faster than a walk, and it feels wrong. It isn't. Easy pace is where the fitness gets built, and walk breaks are allowed to keep it easy.
I missed three days. Do I have to start over?
joggy Nope. Pick up where you left off. If it turned into more than a week, repeat the last week you finished and carry on from there. Three missed days don't undo the runs you already did.
Is it okay to walk during a run?
joggy Yes. Run-walk is a real method, not a fallback, and plenty of experienced runners race that way. Take the walk breaks on purpose, before you need them, and the whole run gets easier.
How many days a week should a beginner run?
joggy Three, with a rest or walking day between them. That's enough to improve and leaves your legs time to adapt. More isn't better in the first couple of months.
Why am I out of breath in the first minute?
joggy You're almost certainly starting too fast. Walk briskly for five minutes first, then start jogging so slowly it feels silly. If you still can't talk, slow down or walk until you can.
Should I run when it's hot?
joggy You can, by effort instead of pace. Go early or late, let your pace slide 20 to 30 seconds a mile, and drink water before as well as after. A slower run in the heat counts exactly the same.
What should I eat before a morning run?
joggy For an easy run under an hour, a small snack or even nothing is fine, plus some water. Skip a big or high-fiber meal right before. Bigger meals want a couple of hours to settle.
Do I need special running shoes?
joggy You need running shoes that fit and feel comfortable. Comfort is a better guide than any shoe-type theory, and fit matters far more than price.
My knee hurts when I run. What should I do?
joggy I can't diagnose that, and I won't guess. Stop running on it for now and keep moving with whatever doesn't hurt, like walking or cycling. If it's still there after a few days, or it's sharp or swollen, see a physio or doctor. Your plan will wait for you.
How is it different from a generic AI chatbot?
A general chatbot does not know your plan, your paces or what you ran this week, and cannot change your training. The Joggy coach reads your training before it answers and can reshape your plan in the chat, in a calm, beginner-first voice. AI running coach vs. a static PDF plan covers what that changes.
Does the AI coach replace a human coach or a doctor?
No. The coach gives general fitness coaching, not medical advice, and it cannot examine an injury or watch your form. Persistent, sharp or one-sided pain is a job for a physio or physician.
