Overview

joggy ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile running coach application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We collect only what we need to make the coaching experience work. We don't sell your data, and we don't monetize your personal information beyond what's disclosed here.

Information we collect

Account information. Email address and display name when you create an account.

Location and GPS data. When you track a run, we collect GPS location data to record your route, distance, and pace. This data is stored with your account and used to generate training insights. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, though this will limit run-tracking functionality.

Apple Health data. If you enable Apple Health sync, we read and write workout data, heart rate, and related fitness metrics through Apple's HealthKit framework, to keep your training history consistent across joggy and Health. You control this permission in your device's Health app settings at any time. Health and fitness data collected through Apple HealthKit is used solely to power your training plan and coaching experience. It is never used for advertising or marketing purposes, and is never shared with AdMob or any other advertising partner.

Apple Watch data. If you use the joggy Apple Watch companion app, workout data recorded on your watch syncs to your joggy account via WatchConnectivity.

Fitness and training data. Distances, paces, effort levels, training goals, race dates, and notes you enter or that are recorded during runs. Onboarding responses including fitness level, age range, and training preferences.

Photos. If you upload a photo to a run log or create a share card, we store that image with your account.

Community content (The Pack). Posts, reactions ("paces"), and any content you choose to share in joggy's community feed are visible to other users and are not private.

Usage data. Workouts logged, plan progress, badges and patches earned, app interaction data.

Push notification data. Device tokens used to deliver training reminders and updates, via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Payment information. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store payment card information; see "Third-party services" below.

How we use your information

  • To generate and adapt your personalized training plan
  • To power the joggy AI coach: your training data and messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate coaching responses
  • To track progress, streaks, and achievements
  • To sync data across devices and sessions
  • To process subscription payments and manage your joggy Club membership
  • To send training reminders and service-related notifications

Third-party services we use

Firebase (Google): authentication, data storage (Firestore), backend functions, push notifications (FCM), file storage. Governed by Google's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Anthropic Claude API: your training data and coaching conversations are processed by Anthropic to generate personalized coaching responses and training plans. Governed by Anthropic's privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy

RevenueCat: manages and processes joggy Club subscriptions. RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription status information from Apple App Store and Google Play on our behalf.

Apple HealthKit: if enabled, used to read and write fitness data as described above. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Google AdMob: free-tier users see ads served through Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers for ad delivery and measurement. You can manage ad personalization in your device settings.

Klaviyo: powers our email marketing and website analytics. Used on the joggy.run website only, not in the mobile app. See "Cookies and website analytics" below. Governed by Klaviyo's privacy policy: klaviyo.com/legal/privacy-notice

Cookies and website analytics

This section applies to the joggy.run website. The joggy mobile app does not use cookies.

What we use. We use Klaviyo, an email marketing and analytics service, on joggy.run. Klaviyo sets cookies in your browser and collects information about your visit: the pages you view, the approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and device type, the site that referred you, and, if you submit an email address through a form on our site, your email address linked to that browsing activity.

Why we use it. To understand which pages people find useful, and to send marketing email to people who have asked for it. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising targeting.

Your choice. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, no tracking cookie is set until you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit. Elsewhere, tracking is active by default and you can opt out at any time. You can change your decision whenever you like using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Declining does not affect your access to any part of the site.

Browser controls. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Note that clearing your cookies will also clear your recorded preference, so you may be asked again.

Email. Marketing emails sent through Klaviyo may contain tracking pixels that tell us whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, but no system is completely secure.

Data retention

We retain your account and training data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or fraud-prevention purposes. Some data shared with third-party processors (Firebase, Anthropic) may be retained according to their own retention policies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information). Users in the European Economic Area have rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing.

Children's privacy

joggy is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
